Story Time...

Let me start by saying look at this little pumpkin pie! So cute!!! Now, keep reading....

Side rant that has nothing to do with the stories: Hollyn is such a two year old these days. I remember when she was 18 months old she was REALLY trying my patience. I made the mistake of saying to someone, "The Terrible Two's will have nothing on us! I don't see how it could get worse!" Why would I say such a thing? I should have known better. We are still not sleeping. In fact, some people's kids sleep more hours in one 24 hour period than Hollyn does in 2 days!!!! No one told me that there could be even a possibility that I still wouldn't be sleeping almost 2 and a half years later. Some one should have told me. So if you are reading this blog and you don't have children yet. Consider yourself told. There is NO guarantee that you will be able to get your child to sleep well, not even YEARS later! :) End of rant.

Hollyn's automatic response to not getting her way is to go into a screaming, insane, wailing, fit. I mean a HUGE HUGE fit. All the time. Multiple times a day. Yes, we discipline. You name it, we do it. Loss of toys, time out, spank, etc. Scott was trying to get her dressed and I hear the screaming erupt. I just went about my business in the other room, hoping he would get her to stop soon. After awhile it, I went in to see what the issue was. I walk in to see Scott (cool as a cucumber) holding Hollyn in the air. She is refusing to let him dress her. At this point she is kicking and screaming, naked and upside down. He is saying, "I will let you go when you calm down." I walk in and she looks at me and says, "Mom, I can NOT believe this!"

These next stories are all alike in the fact that, Hollyn ALWAYS tries to get the last word in when she is being disciplined. She is a MASTER manipulator and tries to distract you while you are disciplining her.
We went to eat and Hollyn wanted to sit in the both next two us while we waited for our meal. No one was around so we let her. Then she decided to crawl on the floor under the table. That was not ok, so Scott went to get her out. She grabs the leg of the table and starts yelling, "NOOOO!" as loud as she can. Scott pries her fingers off the table and takes her into the restroom for some discipline. As soon as he starts talking to her, she is flipping her head from side to side refusing to look him in the eyes. Then she moves into full distractor mode: "Did you hear that?" she asked. "Someone is pooping over there!" "Someone is pooping!!"

Hollyn threw one of her books across the playroom, and so I told her not to treat her things like that. So she immediately picks up the books and chunks it across the room again. I get her in front of me and grab (gently ;) her face and say. "You will not treat your books like that! You will pick it up and obey me." She looks right at my face the whole time and then says, "Ok, I'm so sorry." I looked at Scott in total disbelief. That went really well. There was no spanking, time out, rolling of eyes, screaming, etc. Now you have to really picture what happened next. I am squatting down right in front of her. She is only wearing a diaper. She leans up right in front of my face. (I am expecting a hug.) Then she points to both of her little boobs and starts rubbing them!! She tucks her chin to her chest and starts saying, "BOOBIES BOOBIES BOOBIES BOOBIES." Go ahead, tuck your chin to your chest and start talking. It sounds like you sucked in helium. So there went my little discipline moment. It ended with a her sticking her chest in my face and saying boobies in a helium type voice!! Seriously.

Again, I'm laughing. I know at the moment that is the farthest thing from your mind, but I know you will be able to look back and your sweet little girl and laugh! She sure has a personality! :)

I love hearing about all the Hollyn stories. She is so adorable I can't imagine her acting like this...but I believe you! And I am fully prepared, thanks to you, at the possibility of never sleeping...some nights Kyler wakes up every 15 minutes, and he is a big sleep-fighter during the day:)

There are no words, no words at all, I can't stop laughing! ha haha! The last story had my side hurting from laughing. I then said a prayer for you immediately. :)

I'm so sorry the sleeping is not improving. Apparently people who are born with exceptionally intelligent brains and personality to the plus don't need much sleep. Many hugs to you, you are a supermom!!
